Mr. Yateem’s ideas and business projects have formed the cornerstones of the Bahrain we know today.
He was responsible for many “firsts” in Bahrain among the more notable were the first petrol station, The first Cinema and the first air–conditioned shopping plaza and was instrumental in the formation of national airline Gulf Air.
In 1951 he was invited to accompany the then ruler HH Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the coronation of Queen Elisabeth II of England. He received MBE (Member of the Most Exellent Order of the British Empire) from the Queen on the occasion.
Hussain built the first residental estate of the Kingdom, Yateem Garden, which accommodates spacious villas surrounded by lush gardens and palm trees. Hussain served at the Manama Municipal Council for over 25 years amid his busy business life. He is also one of the founders of BCCI and one of its past presidents. He also co-founded Bahrain Red Crescent Society.
He acquired the agency of the National Carrier HVAC and became the first seller of air-conditioning units in Bahrain.
Yateem Air Conditioning Company is the first air conditioning company in Bahrain and GCC.
