Hussain Yateem was a prominent figure in Bahrain’s history. His education took him to Brighton Grammar School in England. Upon returning to Bahrain, he made significant contributions to the country’s development. In 1939, Hussain Ali Yateem embarked on a journey to New York City to attend the 1939 New York World’s Fair. During his visit, he was captivated by Carrier’s latest air conditioning technology and decided to purchase one for testing in Bahrain. This marked the beginning of a significant partnership, as in 1945, he proposed to Carrier to become their agent in Bahrain, a proposal that was approved, making him the first air conditioning agent in the country. Hussain Yateem’s vision and entrepreneurial spirit continued to shape Bahrain’s landscape. His legacy as a pioneer and innovator in Bahrain’s development endured until his passing in 2015, at the age of 101, leaving behind a lasting impact on the nation’s history and progress.
